Sustainable Energy Analyst
Green Powered Technology
Worked as a clean energy and technology researcher on federal government contracts with clients such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
-
Helped to organize and lead activities on a federal energy program, like monthly presentations on agency energy reporting, research and assessments on presidential executive orders and news, and data anomalies checking.
-
Contributed as an author on an over 200 page paper on the economic viability of various renewable energies.
-
Wrote over twenty in-depth reports about the transportation sectors - the state of public transit, vehicle emissions laws, the commonness of electric vehicles, and more - in nine countries across Asia and provided recommendations for policy-making and programs that promote clean transportation systems.
Performed complex spatial analyses and created easy to understand, visually appealing maps on ArcGIS Pro based on client needs.
-
I conducted visibility assessments on proposed renewable energy power plant projects to be built in Maryland. One proposal was for a 5 megawatt solar PV electricity generation facility, of which I had to determine where the solar panels would be visible to the public. This required the combining of several elevation models, raster layer creation, and the use of a range of other geoprocessing tools.
-
Played a significant role in my company purchasing ArcGIS Pro and the relevant licenses necessary for the work needed from the clients. This required researching and becoming familiar with Esri products.
Assisted in business development activities.
-
Wrote past performance reports, helped to compile company details for Requests for Information or Proposals, and attended networking events on behalf of the company.
-
Supported an internal initiative to determine what artificial intelligence technologies would be best for company use.
February 2022 - May 2023
GIS Data Quality Manager
YouthMappers Validation Hub
Validated and edited open source data on OpenStreetMap (OSM). I have almost 3,000 saved edits – contributing map elements all over the world to promote positive change for people in those areas
-
I was part of a team that ensured high quality vector data in Sierra Leone. This information was used to determine optimal power pole locations to give more people access to electricity.
Mentored and supervised 4 several-months long projects worked on by international university students for their local communities
-
I oversaw a group of students at the University of Panama who were mapping nearby areas to establish where plumbing pipes could be placed. I wrote them an informational document in Spanish that demonstrated how to fix or prevent errors I had seen in their work as they mapped.
Led six 2.5-hour virtual trainings for international participants on Java OSM software usage, tools, and more
-
I trained multinational audiences – often from Africa, South America, and North America.
Created documents to be used by the greater YouthMappers organization
-
I created multiple presentations and documents to teach new mappers how to use specific mapping tools. All work was made to fit the organization-wide formatting.
